Hello neighbors,
This letter is a reminder about this weeks Shepherds Farm Homeowners Association meeting on Wednesday, April 17, at 6:00pm at the Midpointe Library, West Chester branch.
You are welcome and encouraged to attend. Thank you to those of you who attend regularly.
This letter is also a reminder about the May meeting in which Shepherds Farm holds its yearly election of board members. This special meeting is Tuesday, May 21, 6:00pm, also at the Midpointe Library, West Chester branch. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS THE THIRD TUESDAY OF THE MONTH.
We are in need of new board members for the Shepherds Farm Homeowners Association. It would be especially helpful to have new members with a background in finance. If you have an interest in volunteering for a position on the board, no matter what your background, please let one of the board members know.
Please write a short note, expressing your interest in becoming a board member, including your background and experience, and why you wish to become a board member. Please include your ideas for improving our community. You may give this note to a board member or bring it to the meeting this Wednesday, April 17. You may also send an email expressing your interest, to neighborsofsf1@aol.com or you can simply submit your name and we will follow up with you before the May meeting.
There are seven positions on the board. Currently there are five board members. Some of the current board members would like to take a lesser role, some would like to continue, some wouldn’t mind stepping down, but will continue if needed.
Article ll Section 1 of the Shepherds Farm bylaws states that “…persons nominated and elected to the board shall be a unit owner and occupant.” If you are renting a condominium in Shepherds Farm, unfortunately you would not be able to be a board member, however you can surely help the community in other ways. Many support people are needed.
Article ll Section 3 of the Shepherds Farm bylaws states that, “ Each board member shall hold office until his successor is elected, or until his earlier resignation, removal of office, or death.” The term of office is two years. Currently the board is meeting monthly with the entire community, and at least one or more other times separately. We also work daily, texting, emailing, making phone calls, studying the financial reports, helping condo owners solve problems with their homes, talking to contractors, finding and vetting contractors, etc. It is time consuming work, but very rewarding. The majority of the board members have full time jobs.
Voting for the new board members will occur at the meeting on Tuesday, May 21. If you are unable to attend that meeting, you may vote by proxy.
Looking forward to seeing you at this weeks meeting. Please let us know of your interest in serving on the board, and bring questions about the upcoming election in May. Please do consider what you can do to better our community and how you can get involved.
Let us know your suggestions. We have made great strides in a short amount of time. What could we do with everyone’s help? We have a job for just about everyone! If you ask, “What can I do to help?”, we will find a job for you.
Many thanks to all who have been working to better our community. Your hard work and dedication are appreciated. Let’s keep the momentum going!
Sincerely,
